Kings' Tyreke Evans wins rookie of the year

Sacramento Kings guard Tyreke Evans won the NBA's Rookie of the Year award, the league announced Thursday. Evans received 67 first-place votes (491 points) from a panel of 123 sportswriters and broadcasters. Golden State's Stephen Curry finished second with 391 points and Milwaukee's Brandon Jennings finished third with 204 points.

Players were awarded five points for each first-place vote, three points for each second-place vote and one point for each third-place vote.

Six rookies received votes, with the following breakdown:
Tyreke Evans, Sacramento — 491 points
Stephen Curry, Golden State — 391 points
Brandon Jennings, Milwaukee — 204 points
Darren Collison, New Orleans — 17 points
Jonny Flynn, Minnesota — 2 points
Taj Gibson, Chicago — 2 points

Pistons rookie Jonas Jerebko did not receive any rookie of the year votes. But the all-rookie first and second teams have not been announced yet, so Jerebko could still earn those honors.
